OHJA 3' Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby

This popular class is back for 2019!  

These classes are to be traditional Hunter competitions reminiscent of open field type classes. To be shown over a set course that mimics the conditions found in the hunt field. The course will be set at 3’ with a minimum of 10 jumps. The course should include ‘field hunter’ type fences such as a coop, straw bales, natural post and rail, gates, hedges. Handy test options must include roll backs, unique approaches, broken lines, trot jumps, unrelated distances, bounce, wingless jumps, skinny jumps and jumps with no ground lines, handy test/track options.

Classes will be held at the following competitions:

The Headwaters Cup at Angelstone                                         June 5 - 9, 2019
Summer Classic at Caledon Equestrian Park                          June 26 - June 30, 2019
Ottawa International I at Wesley Clover Parks                        July 9 - 14. 2019
Autumn Classic at The Caleond Equestrian Park                   September 11 - 15, 2019

Judging:

  1. Entries will be judged over one round only and will receive a scor eout of 100
  2. The Jr/Am Derby must be officiated by two judges(when possible). The two judges will be seated together and give one score.
  3. The Jr/Am Derby shall be judged numerically scored (out of 100) on quality, movement, jumping style, handiness, manners and way of going. Pace and brilliance are to be rewarded.
  4. The judging panel may not award the same score to any two competitors in the class unless a competitor’s score is below the cut-off score.
  5. Ribbons and prize money to 10th.
  6. Horses must jog. Horses may jog in hand or mounted EC316.4

Formal attire is requested.
Open to Juniors and Amateurs who have not competed in classes requiring them to jump any horse higher than 1.0M at the same horse show.
No requirement to have competed in another hunter class or division at the same horse show in order to enter this class.
Entries (owner and rider)must have a current OHJA membership to participate.
When both the 3ft and 3’6” OHJA Jr/Am Derby are offered at the same horse show horse/Rider combinations may not compete in both Derbies.|
Class to be run under EC G316.Provincial Award points will be awarded in these classes (EC G113).

 


OHJA 3'3"/3'6" Junior Amateur Hunter Derby

Returning for another year, the OHJA is proud to present the 3’3 and 3’6 Jr/Am Derby.

Open to 3’3”- 3’6” Junior Hunters and Amateur Hunters. No requirement to have competed in another hunter class or division at the same horse show in order to enter this class.  Entries (owner and rider) must have a current OHJA membership to participate.

Classes will be held at the following competitions:

Autumn Classic or Fall Finale at Caledon Equestrain Park                                   September 11 - 15, 2019

There will be two height sections – a 3’3” and 3’6” and they will be judged as one class. Horse/Rider combinations must compete at the appropriate height from their division shown at this horse show to qualify for the Top Score Award. The course will be set with a minimum of 10 jumps. The course should include ‘field hunter’ type fences such as a coop, straw bales, natural post and rail, gates, hedges. Handy test options must include roll backs, unique approaches, broken lines, trot jumps, unrelated distances, bounce, wingless jumps, skinny jumps and jumps with no ground lines, handy test/track options.
